What is the difference between natural and organic ?

boeufnaturelThe main difference between a product that is natural and one that is organic resides in regulation. There exist very clear and definitive organic-food regulations, which isn’t the case with natural food. The term « natural » is used to describe a product which is derived from raising practices taken from both industrial and organic agriculture. Implementation of these practices is incumbent upon the farmers of natural products.

In fact, the price of natural food is somewhere between the price of industrial and organic food.

porcnaturelEach producer who places the « natural » assertion on his products fully understands the implications of this label. Consequently, for his part, the consumer should inform himself of livestock-raising conditions, so as to be sure that they are not in conflict with his own values. Natural agriculture is a sensible choice for the consumer who wishes to eat meat of which the animals were raised freely or which were fed vegetable grain or which received antibiotics for curative reasons only. However, it is possible that the feed may come from fields fertilized with chemical fertilizer or treated with pesticides or even that the animal was given growth hormones. Given that natural production is not subject to any official specifications, it is up to the producers to establish for themselves their production standards. We have therefore chosen for you only experienced producers, who have proven themselves in the natural food industry.

At Mon Epicier Bio, you have the option of consulting each of our producers’ information page. For each one of our products, you will find them under the Our Meats tab.  Transparency is paramount to us !
