Consequently, for his part, the consumer should inform himself of livestock-raising conditions, so as to be sure that they are not in conflict with his own values. Natural agriculture is a sensible choice for the consumer who wishes to eat meat of which the animals were raised freely or which were fed vegetable grain or which received antibiotics for curative reasons only. However, it is possible that the feed may come from fields fertilized with chemical fertilizer or treated with pesticides or even that the animal was given growth hormones.\u00a0Given that natural production is not subject to any official specifications, it is up to the producers to establish for themselves their production standards.
